Dr. Joel Hathaway grew up in rural Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Alabama (1995) with a Bachelor Degree in English Literature, with emphases in Creative Writing and Studio Art. He attended Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO, graduating with a Master of Divinity (2004) and a Doctor of Ministry (2016).
Joel is the author of Finding a Pastor: A Handbook for Ministerial Search Committees. His opinion-editorials have appeared in the newspapers such as the Atlanta Journal, Miami Herald, and Washington Post Times. He placed fourth in the 2003 HarperCollins Publishers C.S. Lewis Essay contest. He placed as the runner up in the 2001 Acton Institute for Study of Religion and Liberty contest, writing On Religion, Duty, and Liberty. He has written dozens of articles for the Covenant Seminary magazine.
